30th June 2016

Lee GoodfellowLast weekend (25th & 26th June) saw our TLJT athletes in action on grass at Ceres Highland Games and Peebles Games and on the track at Mannhein in Germany, South Leeds Stadium in England and Grangemouth Stadium in Scotland!
On Saturday, Lee Goodfellow travelled to Fife where he won the 200m at Ceres Highland Games.
Also on Saturday a large contingent of TLJT athletes represented Team Borders in the Final Match of the Forth Valley League. Every point counted and our athletes were instrumental in bringing the FVL title back to the Borders. Special mention goes to Matthew Beaton for winning both the U11 100 and 200m races. He was also part of the winning U11 4 x 100m relay team. Angus Bryce showed great versatility by stepping up from his usual distance to take the U15 Boys 300m race.
On Sunday Kacey Taitt battled through heat and final to take the 90m Group B title at Peebles Games. While Marshall Smith won the Youth A Lap Race and Lee Goodfellow completed his brace of wins for the weekend by winning the Senior Lap Race.
Meanwhile in Germany Cameron Tindle ran a 200m personal best of 20.82 to take second in a strong field of international U20 Men. This success means that he has achieved the qualifying time of 21:00 for the World Junior Championships to be held in Poland next month.
Back in the UK four TLJT athletes were competing on the track at the South Leeds Stadium in Northern Premier East Round of the Youth Development League. Running under their other club of Edinburgh AC, our athletes put in some excellent performances to help Team Edinburgh come out top. Cameron Caldwell was second in both the 100m and 200m A U17 categories. Jaz Tomlinson was first in both the 100m and 200m A U20 events and Laura Munro was 4th in the 100m and 2nd in the 200m U17 events. Matt Dougal was 2nd in a strong 1500m.
A great weekend of achievements for our athletes and their coaches.
